Cassie Sombat is a New York City-based documentary couples photographer whose work lives in the space between a fairy tale and real life.

Her images are cinematic and emotionally driven, less about perfect poses and more about the split second where two people forget the camera exists entirely. Warmth, movement, and intimacy are her signatures. She shoots the way a great song feels transporting you somewhere else before you realize you've left!

Her dad was her first inspiration, an ER doctor who carried a camera everywhere he went. He taught her without ever sitting me down to teach her. That photographs don't have to be perfect to be powerful. That the most honest images are the ones that feel lived in. That's why, technically, her eye is rooted in street photography. She is drawn to motion blur not as an accident but as an emotional language.

Her editing pulls from the golden warmth of classic cinema - rich and timeless rather than trendy. Think candlelit warmth over clinical sharpness. Film grain over digital perfection.

But underneath the romance lives an edge. Inspired by the untraditional, complicated, and beautifully messy sides of love, she is actively pushing her work toward images that feel less expected - more honest, more fearless, more alive.
